Decode a GIF into complete frames before arranging them into a PNG sheet. Frame composition and disposal are applied so you get the displayed images, rather than incomplete difference patches.

Usage Instructions:

  1. Choose a valid GIF file. It is decoded locally in the browser.
  2. Review the extracted frame order. Use the arrows or × to change the selection.
  3. Set columns, spacing and margin, then generate the sheet preview.
  4. Download the sheet, ZIP or JSON, or send the frames to Animator to review playback.

Pro Tips:

  • Choose 1 column for a vertical strip; choose a column count equal to the frame count for a horizontal strip.
  • Frame timing is stored in JSON and carried to Animator. A PNG sheet by itself does not contain playback timing.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Why does a long GIF fail to load?
A: Decoding is limited to 300 frames and 32 million pixels across all complete frames. Shorten or resize a large GIF first.

Q: Can I extract frames from WebP, APNG or video?
A: This tool currently accepts GIF input. Use individual PNG, JPEG or WebP images in Sheet Maker instead.

Q: Are my images uploaded to a server?
A: Image processing takes place in this browser. Explicit transfers between tools are stored only in this browser and can be removed with Clear saved transfers.
