What is the Pixel Art Resizer?

Enlarge pixel art without blur. Give every animation frame the same canvas size and alignment.

Enlarge images by whole-number multiples using nearest-neighbour sampling. You can also give differently sized frames one common canvas without distorting the artwork.

Common Use Cases

  • Pixel artists: Export a larger presentation image with crisp pixel edges.
  • Animation preparation: Align frames on matching canvases before creating a sheet or GIF.

Features:

  • Integer scaling: Enlarge from 1× to 16× without introducing interpolated colours.
  • Common canvas: Automatically match all frames to the largest scaled dimensions.
  • Alignment options: Place artwork at the centre, bottom centre or top left.

Usage Instructions:

  1. Choose image files or a ZIP and check their initial order.
  2. Set an integer scale. Choose 1× when you only want to change canvas size or alignment.
  3. Enable a common canvas or enter a larger width and height. Choose the alignment and regenerate the preview.
  4. Inspect the enlarged pixels, then download the PNG ZIP or send the frames to Animator.

Pro Tips:

  • Use bottom-centre alignment to keep characters’ feet at a consistent height.
  • Leave a canvas dimension at 0 for automatic sizing. A specified canvas must be large enough to fit the scaled image.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Does this create new image detail?
A: No. It repeats the existing pixels. This is useful for pixel art, but does not recover detail from a blurred photograph.

Q: Why does the tool reject my canvas size?
A: The chosen canvas is smaller than a scaled image or exceeds the browser tool’s size limits. Increase the canvas, use 0 for auto, or lower the scale.

Q: Are my images uploaded to a server?
A: Image processing takes place in this browser. Explicit transfers between tools are stored only in this browser and can be removed with Clear saved transfers.
